Well here we are, one semester done already - where did the time go? Have been busy tidying up files and finishing off costumes ready for hand in after Christmas- still not completed but well on the way.
The London trip was great, everyone got on well despite the span of age groups. We had fantastic trips - backstage at the National Theatre, the lady who took us round was very imformative. She told us all sorts, from the history of the place to aexplaining about all the 'mini factories' in the theatre that support the performances. Then later that day onto the BBC TV studios which were really interesting. To end this tour we all visited the interactive studio which was fun. Guess who won the Weakest Link?! Brought a little book about the BBC home so that was worth it! My husband wanted to know how much money I'd won - sadly he was disappointed. Next day we visited the London TV and Film museum - there were lots of things to see here - Star Wars, Dr Who, The SImpsons, too many to mention, a really interesting exhibition of Charlie Chaplin, and also Ray Harryhausen. We had lots of free time too, went to see The Lion King at the Lyceum which was wonderful, the costumes were mindblowing. This is one of my favourites - maybe because my children loved it too so it brings back nice memories. Visited the V and A, never enough time here although I think you run out of steam after about two hours. Particularly wanted to see the Japanese kimonos for my contextual studies essay. Visited the costume gallery too which was really great to see. Intended to go to the theatre again on the last night but was absolutely worn out, we had done so much walking! Couldnt leave without going to the Covent Garden market of course - more than once actually! Met up with my son for meal aswell so the whole trip was thoroughlt enjoyable and informative. Apart from that it also gave us all a chance to get to know each other too.
Since getting back, I've been fitting as much work in as possible between going to work/christmas its busy but I think my head is just above the water! We are going a presentation after the holidays for our professional studies group. We each have a part to research then we have to present that part. Less scary that first thought. We have chosen VivienneWestwood as she has several dimensions to her industry.
Am researching about Japanese kimonos for my contextual studies, I felt I should make a decision about that fairly soon as the draft is in at the end of January and if this next month goes as fast as the last ......
